Metabolic Exercise

Metabolic syndrome is a group of health conditions that occur together and may include excess fat around the waist, elevated blood pressure, high triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and low HDL cholesterol. Together, this group of health conditions increases a person’s risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Lifestyle changes can reverse or prevent the development of serious health problems.

Metabolic Exercise is an 8-week education and group exercise program that includes strategies for behaviour change in a supportive and group atmosphere, to help lead to positive lifestyle change.

Through monitored exercise, and access to supports such as nutrition education, stress management, etc., the goal is to help you reverse your metabolic syndrome and successfully implement lifestyle changes to lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

This program has a partnership with the YMCA in Stratford. Patients in the program will receive a free, 8-week membership to the Stratford YMCA in order to participate in the group exercise portion of the program.
